Just Freddie’s, is newly opened - It’s a brave time to open a restaurant, but with Blackstock Road slowly returning to its bustling best and a menu bursting with soul power, you wouldn’t bet against Freddie’s having the last laugh. This homely and slightly ramshackle little place is a cracking addition to the Blackstock Road.
Freddie handles all of the cooking himself, serving up a range of dishes from around the world headlined by a mouth-watering range of 100 per cent homemade burgers. And alongside a fine range of grills and pastas, he manages to stay true to his Ghanaian roots with an authentic selection of grilled fish, cous cous and curried goat which has already found favour with the local African community on a Sunday afternoon.
The wine list had only two reds and two whites to choose from but our host produced a couple of bottles of really decent Chianti. Whilst listening to the funky hip hop and reggae tunes, the stresses of a tough day at the office just seemed to melt away... long live Freddie’s!
