Haringey libraries are the most popular in London, according to the latest research carried out by the Department of Culture, Media and Sports.

Interim figures from show that almost 60 per cent of people in the borough have used Haringey libraries over the previous 12 months. The figure of 57.8 per cent is a significant increase on the previous figure of 51.9 per cent.

This result means that Haringey libraries are in the top one per cent of library authorities in the country, as well as the top in London.

Councillor Dhiren Basu, cabinet member for leisure, culture and lifelong learning, said of the findings: "Libraries in Haringey are hugely popular. They provide an excellent range of books, cds and dvds - and so much more. In Haringey, libraries are at the heart of our communities.  No wonder they are the most popular in London."
